COURSE LENGTH: 1.5  DAYS (10 HOURS)
COURSE LOCATIONS: Norfolk VA, National City CA

This course covers OSHA standards in the maritime industry for shipyard employment. The responsibility that an Employer has to the employee and how and when to file a complaint.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Purpose – Learn OSHA regulations in the Maritime Industry, the responsibility of an Employer and how to file a complaint. 

Reference – OSHA Regulation Manual part 1915.

 

INTRODUCTION
Covers OSHA Regulations, responsibilities of an Employer and how to file a complaint. 

WALKING WORKING SURFACES
Covers the hazards of walking and working surfaces in a shipyard environment.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)
Explains the PPE requirements when working in a shipyard environment. 

FALL PROTECTION-SCAFFOLDING
Covers the hazards associated with scaffolding.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Training involves the hazards of working around electricity and how to mitigate them.

CONFINED SPACES
Covers how to identify a confined and enclosed space, testing procedures and training requirements prior to entering.

Working Conditions

This position is considered INDOORS which is characterized as follows.

  • Lessons will be taught in a classroom using Power Points and Videos, in Building 9A.

    • Mock ups used for hands on inspection, in Building 9B
